The tiers and levels of Hollywood fame are real.
Pro Football Hall of Famer turned ESPN personality Shannon Sharpe got humbled by paparazzi when he was motioned to make way for actress Selena Gomez who passed by him Monday night.
Footage from a paparazzi’s camera captures Sharpe engaging in conversation with them outside of Giorgio Baldi’s in Los Angeles, before Gomez walks up from behind to hop into her get-a-way car, TMZ posted of the moment.
While Sharpe responds to a question the cameraman asks about USA’s performance at the FIBA World Cup — he cuts off the former NFL receiver saying, “Hold on, one second” as security guards clear the path for Gomez.
Sharpe seemingly took no offense and simply removed himself from the way for paparazzi to get footage of the “Love You Like A Love Song” singer.
As soon as the camera guy was finished getting his coverage of Gomez, he quickly headed back to Sharpe and apologized for cutting him off.
“Apologize about that Shannon,” the cameraman says, to which Sharpe simply responds “nah, bruh, you good,” before continuing his take on USA’s recent outing at the FIBA World Cup.
The two then carry on with their conversation as Sharpe walks to his grey BMW, while still talking about Team USA.
The photographer then throws in his last words to congratulate Sharpe on his new role as host alongside Stephen A. Smith on ESPN’s First Take.
But, before Sharpe goes about his way, he’s asked about Deion Sanders and college football’s buzzing Colorado University team.
“Is Deion doing his thing?” the cameraman asks.
“Hey, Coach Prime doing it!” Sharpe goes.
“And did you like how he responded to the threats that that kid [Colorado State’s Henry Blackburn] was getting over a football game?” the camera man adds.
“The kid didn’t deserve it. I mean it was an illegal hit; we all know that,” Sharpe responds. “But he didn’t deserve death threats,” Sharpe goes before shutting his door.
While the paparazzi may prefer to shoot Gomez over Sharpe, the former Denver Broncos tight end is a media darling in his own right and made a major career move recently.
Sharpe’s last day as FS1 “Undisputed” co-host with Skip Bayless was on June 15 before he switched to rival network ESPN.
Sharpe’s First Take debut on Sep. 4 set the record for the ESPN show’s second-most viewers for the year at 727,000 television viewers, ClutchPoints reported from SportsTVRatings.
